The Harper University Hospital Emergency Department serves three adult care inpatient services on the central campus of the Detroit Medical Center. The department, which sees more than 30,000 patients a year, provides emergency services to patients of the Karmanos Cancer Institute Hutzel Women’s Hospital, and patients of the nephrology, infectious disease, cardiology, neurology and other teams based at Harper University Hospital.
The emergency department team of physicians and nurses strives to provide efficient care in an inviting atmosphere. Physician staffing is provided by the renowned team of emergency specialists based at Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center. In recent years, the department has almost doubled its number of patient visits.
Harper University Hospital is the home to specialists in many fields and the emergency department stands ready to support them and their patients. Although the department manages many complex medical problems, it is also prepared to treat colds, sprained ankles, and other “simple” medical problems.
